Rent a car
For adventurous travellers, you can rent a car and travel outside Bangkok. There are many companies to choose between. Local operators and international car rent chains like AVIS or BUDGET. The cost can be as low as THB 1,200 per day for a Toyota Vios or a Honda Jazz inclusive of insurance, unlimited kilometres and VAT. Note also that you must be over 23 years old to be covered by Insurance policy and all operators requires a international driving license + your passport before they give you the key.
Bangkok Tuk-tuk and Taxis
Riding a ‘Tuk-tuk’ (3 wheeled motored cart) is a fun thing to do in Bangkok. Since it is pretty small, it simply moves around a busy road through little gaps and between cars. However, its open-ended structure makes it dangerous and some times an uncomfortable way to travel, so tell the driver to drive slowly. Since all tuk-tuks do not have a meter, fares must be negotiated before you start your trip. Usually you can go quite a distance for as little as 50-100 Baht.
Minivan and private drivers
If you are travelling with a small group of people, renting a minivan with a chauffeur will be an ideal choice to move around Bangkok. The advantage of using this mode of transport is that the minivan and driver is exclusively assigned to your group during the agreed renting time so you can go where you want and when you want. When renting a car you will be required to get the appropriate insurance cover, this is usually clearly outlined in the rental agreement.
